Variations in Quilting
What better way to enjoy a beautiful sunny October day than to meet a fellow quilter at the Campbell River Museum to take in “Variations in Quilting”, an incredible display featuring work by members of the Campbell River Friendship Quilters Guild.
Tara L. and I made a date to visit the exhibition and were pleasantly blown away by the range and diversity of this display running until November 9, 2025. As you enter the exhibition, you’ll notice quilted items have been grouped by categories including small works, appliqué, embellishments, landscapes and modern to name just a few.
Quilt sizes ranged from small wall hangings to large queen size with plenty of room to stand back and take in the details, colours and workmanship. Each category had a description explaining that particular style so non-quilters would get a very good understanding of how these items differed from others in the display, while each quilt also had a description about it. And as quilters, I think both Tara and I came away with some new information (and inspiration) as well.
It was lovely to see such a broad range of quilting styles and methods displayed and lit to enhance their beauty. While several took my breath away, the one that stands out the most was a temperature quilt that the magpie in me fell in love with. Things that make me go “hmmmmm!” Sure, Gayle, add yet one more to the “quilts I’d like to do someday” list!
To say this was an enjoyable afternoon would be an understatement. Not only did I get to drool (not literally) over fabric works of art, I got to share it with a friend. If you get the chance before the end of the exhibit, I highly recommend making a date to visit the Campbell River Museum and take in “Variations in Quilting.”

Happy quilting!
