Retreats

The Comox Valley Schoolhouse Quilters hold two quilting Retreats annually. The Retreats are held on beautiful Quadra Island at Camp Homewood. Quilters enjoy accommodation, three meals per day, snacks and lots of time for sewing and chatting. The group arrives at 11:00 am on the first day of retreat and leaves by 11:00 am on the last day.

The Quilters hold a Silent Auction every Retreat with proceeds donated to Camp Homewood. The group has also been known to award numerous prizes during the Retreat including:

  • First Up and Sewing
  • First to the Rail
  • The Night Owl Award
  • The Up with the Birds Award

There is no Show and Tell at the end of each Retreat where the Quilters show off the fruits of there weekend efforts as everyone hangs their quilts as they are done for viewing during retreat.

The starting price to participate in the Retreat is $252.00 including HST, all-inclusive. Quilters are required to bring their own bedding and towels and whatever personal items, projects and sewing supplies they require.

Ferries to and from Quadra Island run on the hour, please check BC Ferries schedule at http://www.bcferries.com/. Once you are on Quadra Island follow these directions to get to Camp Homewood:

On Quadra, continue up the main road leaving the ferry. After about half a kilometer turn a sharp left, near the Cove Shopping Center (small strip mall). After another half kilometer turn right at the stop sign, onto Heriot Bay Road.

Then 200 meters up Heriot Bay Road (just past the elementary school on the left) turn left onto West Road. The RCMP detachment will be on the right, immediately after the turn.

Travel on West Road for 4.5 kilometers and turn left at the large Homewood sign. Continue on the gravel road until you reach the paved road. The office is the large building immediately on the right.
